(Matthew 17:20) …for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Are you facing problems that seem insurmountable? It may be in your marriage. It may be with your children. It could possibly be at work. Some problems seem larger than any mountain when we face them.
In 1921, a British army officer named George Mallory set out on his first expedition to climb Mt. Everest. Mt. Everest is located in the Himalaya’s along the border between China and Nepal and is the earth’s highest mountain with an elevation of 29,029 ft. This huge mountain was considered by many as unconquerable. George’s first expedition failed.
Mallory made a second attempt at climbing Mt. Everest in 1922 and his last one in 1924. The 1924 expedition resulted in one of the greatest mysteries on Everest to this day. George Mallory and his friend, Andrew Irvine, made a final summit attempt on June 8th, but never returned sparking a debate as to whether or not they were the first to reach the top. They had been spotted high on the mountain that day, but disappeared in the clouds, never to be seen again, until Mallory’s body was found in 1999 at 26,755 ft. on the north face of the mountain. They died on the slopes of Mt. Everest. Several other groups of climbers have also failed in their attempt to climb Mt. Everest and many have failed in tragedy.
Years later in London, a man was giving a speech on how hard Everest was to conquer and behind him as he spoke was this huge photograph of the mountain which covered the wall. As he was speaking, he turned to face the photograph and started talking to Mount Everest. “Everest, we have tried once to conquer you, and we failed. We tried again to conquer you, and we failed. But, Everest, we will conquer you, because you can’t grow any bigger, but we can, we can.”
Our problems may seem like an unconquerable mountain, but you can grow in the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome your problems. We can grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. We can be filled with the Spirit. Our prayers can increase in power. Submit yourself unto God and pray the whole armor of God over yourself and your family.
(Psalms 121:1-2) I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
