Brothers and Sisters,
As we continue with our thoughts on “REDEMPTION” today, I am reminded of the importance of the “blood of Christ”. During this pandemic over the past couple of months, we have been hearing a lot about certain things in our economy being “essential”. Well, I must say that the “blood of the Lamb (the Lord Jesus Christ)” is “essential” in God’s economy. The book of Hebrews tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sins.
(Hebrews 9:22) And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
What makes the blood of Christ so “essential” in our lives is that His blood is the way that God chose to obtain eternal redemption for us. (Hebrews 9:12) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
The blood of all those old testament sacrifices served as only a picture of what Jesus would do to establish a new testament with us. A “testament” is like a “will”. It is a contract or covenant between two parties. With that in mind notice what God said in (Hebrews 9:15) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
The Word of God also tells us that a “testament” is not in force until after the death of the “testator”. (Hebrews 9:16-17) For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
In modern day religious circles, the blood is no longer being preached or taught. The blood has been removed from some of the newer translations of the Bible and from the church song books. However, when the blood is removed then we have no “REDEMPTION”. And without redemption we have no “SALVATION”. And without salvation we no longer have “ETERNAL LIFE”. This would mean that there is no Heaven and no hope for the future.
I’m happy to report to you this morning that when Jesus went to Calvary and shed His innocent and precious blood for us that He became the mediator of the “New Testament” and obtained “ETERNAL REDEMPTION” for us. So, the world can have their modern-day religion that wants to leave out the blood, but just give me some of that “Old Time Religion.”
Give me that old-time religion, Give me that old-time religion
Give me that old-time religion, It’s good enough for me
It was good for our mothers, It was good for our mothers
It was good for our mothers, And it’s good enough for me
It has served our fathers, It has served our fathers
It has served our fathers, And it’s good enough for me
Makes me love everybody, Makes me love everybody
Makes me love everybody, And it’s good enough for me
It will take us all to heaven, It will take us all to heaven
It will take us all to heaven, And it’s good enough for me
