Brothers and Sisters,

Bro. Ray brought a good message last evening in our service on the “Girdle of Truth”.  He mentioned that this is what holds all the “armor of God” together.  It all must start with the truth.  This morning I would like to further explore the subject of “Truth” for our morning devotions.

Webster defines “Truth” as “the body of real things, events, and facts ACTUALITY” or “the state of being the case FACT”.  So, the world’s definition of “Truth” is the actuality of real things, events and facts.

As Christians, our definition of “Truth” is “Jesus”.  In John 14:6, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.  In addition, we see in the scriptures that God’s Word is truth.  Jesus prayed to God the Father in John 17:17, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”.

According to John chapter 1, Jesus is the living Word.  (John 1:1)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (John 1:14)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  So, we can say that the Lord Jesus Christ is the very embodiment of “Truth”.  He was in the beginning with God and at the appointed time He was made flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.

When He left us to go back to the Father in heaven, he left with us the spirit of truth.  (John 14:16-17)  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
