Brothers and Sisters,
(1 John 2:18) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
I don’t think there is any debate amongst the people of God that we are living in the “last time”. This is one thing I think we are all pretty much in agreement on. There is so much disagreement amongst Christians in the day we live that it is good to find some common ground.
One of the ways we can identify the “last time”, is that there are many “antichrists”. According to Strong’s Concordance, that term means “an opponent of the messiah”. In other words, this would be anyone who opposes the teachings of Jesus.
I’m sure you would agree that it’s not too hard to identify those in our society who oppose the Lord’s teachings as laid forth in the scriptures. Even many of our high ranking elected officials stand in opposition to what Jesus instructed us to do in the Bible. For example, there are many “antichrists” who promote abortion when we know that life began when the Lord formed us in our mother’s womb. (Isaiah 44:2) Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb…. It is astounding to me when I think about all the innocent lives that have been murdered in our lifetime while these “antichrists” stand up in public and defend the ungodly practice of abortion. With God as my helper, I will never vote for any elected official (Democrat or Republican) that supports this evil practice.
I would describe those supporters of the LGBTQ movement as “antichrists”. What they stand for and promote is directly opposed to the teachings of the Lord.
- (Genesis 5:2) Male and female created he them…
- (Leviticus 18:22) Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
I can go even further and describe those who promote the sale and/or use of alcoholic beverages as being “antichrist”. I realize this is very controversial because they will say that Jesus made wine at the wedding in Cana. I know this was Jesus’ first miracle. He even told His mother that His hour (time) had not come yet, but in response to His mother’s request, He commanded the servants to fill the barrels with water. Jesus’ mother told them, “Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it”. The miracle was that Jesus made wine using water. I’ve never seen water ferment, have you? So, it is my position that the wine Jesus made was non-alcoholic. You can debate this until the cows come home, but I’m settled in my belief and you are not going to change my opinion on this. As a matter of fact, when you unite with a Baptist church, we covenant together to abstain from the use and/or sale of all intoxicating drinks as a beverage. You can check that out in our Baptist Church Covenant.
If we are observant, we can find many more instances in our society where “antichrists” oppose the teachings of the Bible. This lets us know that we are living in the “last time”. This is the time just prior to the return of our Lord. I agree with the Apostle John as he was finishing up writing the book of Revelation on the isle of Patmos. (Revelation 22:20) …Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
